Leinster Schools enjoy Motorsport STEM Initiative & set new pitstop challenge record.

January 17th & 20th Formula Female & Motorsport Ireland welcomed 59 school girls from Templecarrig School Greystones to the #GoGirls Karting & STEM initiative at Kylemore Karting.

These students set some of the fastest laps we have seen around Kylemore and once again the Pitstop Challenge record time was broken from 29.2s to a super impressive time of 25.5s shaving 4 seconds off the previous record.

The winning group couldn’t believe how well they had done and were dying to find out about further opportunities to work on the karts for teams in the future.

We had so much engagement today about the different career opportunities and many came away hungry to learn more and get more involved.

We look forward to welcoming some of these students back for the All Ireland Karting challenge Regional Finals which will take place later in the school year.

Some of the quotes from today’s experience

“I learned a lot more than I expected to such as figuring out the fastest route around the track”

“It was so interesting and I found it cool that you can gather data from the car while it is moving”

“It was surprising that things that were supposed to be boring were actually really interesting”

“That maths, science and engineering was fun”

“I found this day really fun. There was lots of activities to do and they were all really interesting, I even learned something in maths”

“I learned how much I love go karting”

“I loved trying something new”

Another successful day introducing these young girls to Motorsport. There is so much opportunity out there, it’s just about providing it and raising awareness.
