Sim 4 STEM Launches at Girl Scouts of Central Indiana

Sept 17th, 2024:

Sim 4 STEM, the renowned program that integrates STEM activities with sim racing, is set to launch a partnership with Girl Scouts of Central Indiana on Oct. 8-11, 2024. Recognized as the home of The Greatest Spectacle in Racing, Indianapolis is the perfect location for this exciting new experience that inspires young women to explore careers in motorsports.

As the only grassroots program in motorsports leveraging sim racing and STEM specifically designed for girls, Sim 4 STEM occupies a unique category. This innovative program will engage Girl Scouts of all ages in various hands-on activities, allowing them to earn their Sim 4 STEM patch.

The activities will include STEM exercises applied through four racing simulators. Sim 4 STEM is an experiential learning program that encourages young girls to use science, technology, engineering, and mathematics through video gaming, specifically sim racing, to understand the dynamics of being part of a racing team.

With the recent announcement of the Esports Olympics, Sim 4 STEM provides an exciting pathway for young girls in motorsports, offering a chance to aim for an Olympic medal.

"We are thrilled to provide the Sim 4 STEM program to Girl Scouts of Central Indiana, situated in the heart of IndyCar country. We want to thank the partners such as Honda and PNC Bank on one side and Logitech and iRacing on the other, who have come on board to make this happen," said Stefy Bau, co-founder of Sim 4 STEM

Tara Foor, director of STEM Experience for Girl Scouts of Central Indiana, values the expansion of STEM curriculum for girls in the state. "At Girl Scouts of Central Indiana’s STEM Experience Center, we leverage research-backed programming to provide girls, families, students, and the community access to hands-on STEM learning in a unique outdoor camp. This supports the overall Girl Scouts experience to give girls the knowledge, skills, and confidence needed to engage their curiosity and empower them to close the gender gap in STEM-focused careers. We are thrilled to add an immersive motorsports curriculum through this new partnership with Sim 4 STEM!

Danielle Shockey, CEO of Girl Scouts of Central Indiana, said, “I am so excited for this opportunity to continue up-leveling educational experiences for the 17,000 girls we serve across central IndianaGirl Scouts of Central Indiana’s STEM Experience Center is located on the west side of Indianapolis just two miles from the Indianapolis Motor Speedway, and I hope this new partnership with Sim 4 STEM inspires the girls we serve to reach for that level of excellence and know they have what it takes to achieve their biggest dreams.”

Nicci Daly, co-founder of Sim 4 STEM: "We are thrilled to bring Sim 4 STEM to Girl Scouts of Indiana. Our goal is to inspire as many young girls as possible by exposing them to the exciting world of Motorsport and giving them the opportunity to get involved.
