Irish Racing Driver Alyx Coby Set to Compete at two Iconic US Tracks

Irish racing driver Alyx Coby is embarking on an exciting new chapter in her Motorsport journey in the USA. The 19 year year old has made the big move across the Atlantic to join her US based GT team, Random Vandals as both a driver and employee, a decision that marks a significant milestone in her promising career.

Hailing from Newbridge, Co. Kildare in Ireland, Alyx Coby swiftly made a name for herself on the US racing scene. Her outstanding debut in sports car racing at Road Atlanta in 2022 left a lasting impression on not only her Random Vandals team, but the likes of former F1 Driver Derek Daly and two-time IMSA Champion Brian Sellers.

Daly remarked, In a totally new environment, and on a very challenging race track she had never seen before, she was completely unflustered. She impressed a lot of people with her raw speed and consistency.”

Sellers shared his thoughts, saying, I was blown away by Alyx and her immediate adaptability to sportscar racing. She was a quick learner and very diligent in her progress.”

Alyx Coby wins on her GT debut at Road Atlanta with Random Vandals in 2022.

Now, Alyx is gearing up to become the first Irish female racing driver to compete at two iconic tracks in the United States. First at the renowned Sebring International Raceway on November 10th-12th in the WRL (World Racing League) Championship in a BMW GT4 . This competitive endurance racing championship will see Alyx in the GTO class, facing stiff competition from a field of 65 entries.

Following her Sebring challenge, Alyx will conclude the final WRL event at the Circuit of the Americas (COTA) on December 1st-3rd, an F1 track known for hosting top-tier motorsport events.

Her Random Vandals team enjoyed an impressive year in 2023, competing in the IMSA Michelin Pilot Challenge and SRO GT4 America. In a Crowdstrike backed BMW GT4 Kevin Boehm & Kenton Koch achieved a 3rd-place finish in the SRO GT4 Silver championship, while team owner Paul Sparta alongside Al Carter in the sister car claimed 5th-place in the AM Championship.

It will be the first time back in a racing car for Alyx since February, committing her time to finishing her final school year. Eagerly anticipating the opportunity and challenge ahead, she expressed her emotions of returning to competition. "It has been great to be back with Random Vandals and I cannot wait to get back racing. I'm very grateful to Paul and his team for this opportunity and for believing in my potential. Competing at Sebring and COTA is a fantastic challenge, and I'm excited to be representing Irish racing at these iconic tracks."
