Ireland's Alyx Coby shines in Belgium and plans for the future

Last weekend, in Genk, Belgium at the final round of the IAME Euro Series, Ireland's Alyx Coby enjoyed a strong finish to her 1st season competing at the top level of European Karting. While embroiled in a fierce battle in the top 7, Alyx set fastest race lap prompting the live stream commentators to highlight her as a significant emerging talent. “The best I’ve ever seen her drive. She’ll be winning races next year for certain. So pleased that she’s making amazing progress. Such an impeccable talent.” - Eurosport & series Commentator Jake Sanson

“Personally for me, it has been a challenging but rewarding year. Coming from Ireland, where we don’t do qualifying, I had a lot to learn when it came to strategy and execution. I’ve shown great speed throughout the year but I was delighted to be able to turn that speed into strong qualifying runs in the last two races” said Alyx.

"It was also very rewarding for me to be able to mix it with some of the biggest names in Karting, battling with the top 7 and setting fastest laps and 2nd fastest laps in my heats. It gives me a lot of confidence to be able show the progress I am making because sometimes it’s not always easy to see”

"I have had a such a great year competing in Europe but it only makes me more hungry to continue to develop my career and I look forward to making the next step of transitioning into cars which is not possible without support and funding."

"I couldn’t have done it without the support of my team and the team of people around me. I would like to say a massive thanks to the guys at KR Sport for all their support and coaching help. Thank you to my management team Navigate Partners and Nicci Daly for pushing me and helping me along the way. Thanks to Paul Sparta and Random Vandals for their support throughout the year and the opportunity to work together in the future which I am very grateful for. Finally, a massive thank you to my family, especially my Dad, I couldn’t do it without you."

Alyx’s next career move is to transition to cars. That path and plan will be announced soon.
